Labeling Flowers

I know I am ALWAYS talking about the weather, but seriously people we are "supposed" to get hit with a TON of snow tonight and tomorrow!  Can I just put away my mittens and scarf already!?
Alright, enough about weather...for now!  Remember this cute flower I blogged about ages ago?

It was ages trust me.  I started plants a couple weeks too soon, so we came back to them this week!  We planted some flowers and are reviewing the parts of the plant, so we made a mini version of the big one we worked with before!
My kiddos traced their petals on colored paper.  I actually made those tracers for a turkey project during Thanksgiving and was so excited I could use them again and not make more tracers!  I do not like to trace and cut things for my little ones so I will make tracers for them before I think about tracing out a million flower petals!  I even make them share!  WHAAAT!?  Yes, I only make one tracer per table too!  I usually make them out of cereal boxes or granola bar boxes.

After all their parts were traced and cut they put their flowers together!
I made a sheet with the different parts that they cut out and glued to the correct part of the flower.

I hung them up in the hall and of course never took a picture of our cute little flower garden!  Oops! :)

  1. I love this! I never thought of using cereal boxes to make tracers...I always just used old file folders. Thanks for a great tip because I make tracers all the time!! :)

  2. So funny! I was wondering all day how you got the kids to cut out petals. Ha! I'm easily amazed. Such a great idea! I feel like we can do plants this long next year, too. It's such a great unit and so much to cover! :)
